Baby Timmy
I chose to have my son at Holy Family Services (HFS) because it was important for me to have a natural birth with no medication and as little medical intervention as possible. The midwives and nurses at the birthing center give you the individualized care that you need to prepare for the childbirth process. The quality of care provided by HFS and their staff added to the beautiful experience of the delivery of my son. I was fortunate that on the day of my delivery I had the support of HFS staff members Lisa Barnes as my nurse midwife and Rebecca Macintosh as my registered nurse.
For 9 months all a mother can think about is, “I wonder how it will be when I’m in labor.” My water broke at home at 11:00 pm on November 20, 2009. After laboring at home for five hours, I called the midwife and said, “it’s time I need to come in.” I arrived at HFS at 5:00 am with intense labor pains. HFS is extremely different from a hospital setting where you need to check in the front desk, instead I was immediately greeted by the midwife and she took me into the exam room and let me know I was in labor and dilated 5 centimeters. I was moving along well but not quite ready for the delivery room. My instructions were to walk around find the labor position that was most comfortable and wait until the baby was ready to make his grand entrance.
For the next couple of hours it was a quiet and calm environment. I walked around HFS praying, meditating, and waiting for the moment that my son was ready to arrive. I remember looking at my mom and telling her, “I think he is ready.” I walked to the labor room where there were candles lit and soft music playing in the background. I lay down on the full size bed for what would be my last exam before my son made his way into this world. The midwife checked me and said, “you are almost there 9 centimeters dilated.” The next hour would be the most intense yet satisfying of my life.
Coaching me the entire time were the midwife and registered nurse. Every fifteen minutes they would monitor the fetus heartbeat and my blood pressure to make sure we were both doing fine. I was grateful that my family was encouraged to stay in the labor room for moral support. As time passed my contractions grew stronger, longer, and more painful I focused on the baby and helping him get through the birthing canal.
I’m proud to say that with the support of my family and especially the midwife and registered nurse on staff, Timothy George was born at 8:17 am weighing in at 7 lbs. 9 oz. I will be forever grateful to Holy Family Services for preserving the natural childbirth process and allowing me the opportunity to experience such a momentous birth.

Yo escoji tener mi hijo en Holy Family Services porque fue importante para mi tnere un parto natural y con lo menos interve3ncion medica posible. Las parteras y enfermeras en el centro preparan individualmente a cada mama con el cuidado necesario el proceso de dar luz. La qualidad que proevee el centro y su staf agriega a la divina experencia del parto de mi hijo. Por 9 meses todo lo que una madre piensa es “como ira ser cuando este con los Dolores?” La fuente se revento a las 9:00pm el 20 de Noviembre 2009. Despues de estar en casa por 5 horas, le llame a la partera y le que ya era tiempo para ir a la clinica. Llege a las 5:00am y como el centro es muy diferente que un hospital la parteta imediatamente me lleva al cuarto de examen y me dijo de la matriz se avia abierto 5 centimetros. Iba muy bien pero todavia no estaba lista para ir al cuarto de parto. Mis instucciones eran de caminar y buscar una posicion comfortable y esperar a que el nino estuviera listo para ser su gran entrada.
Por las seguientes horas el medio ambiente estuvo quieto y calmado. Anduve alrededor del centro , meditando, resando,y esperando el momento en que llegara mi hijo. Recuerdo viendo a mi mama y le dije “creo que esta listo.” Anduve al cuarto donde estaba la musica baja y las velas prendedas. Me acoste en una cama doble para cual fuera mi ultimo examen antes de que mi hijo saliera al mundo. Lisa me checo y me dijo “ya mero estas a 9 centimetros.” La siguiente hora fue la mas intense pero la mas satisfecha en mi vida.
Tuve el apoyo de Lisa y Rebecca todo el tiempo que estuve en el centro. Cada 15 minutos me checaban la presion y checaban el corazonsito de mi bebe para estar seguras que todo estuviera bien. Estoy muy agradecida que mi famiia pudo estar conmigo para apoyo moral. Al pasar el tiempo mis contracciones estuvieron mas Fuertes, largos, y el dolor se sentia mas intense. Empese a enfocar en mi bebe para ayudarle a salir por el anal de nacimiento.
Estoy orgullosa en decir que con el apoyo de mi familia y en especial Lisa y Rebecca, Timothy George nacio a las 8:17 am y peso 7 libras con 9 onzas. Para siempre estare muy agradecida a Holy Family Services por preserver el proceso de un parto normal y dandome la oportunidad de tener la experencia de un parto inolvidable.
