Breastfeeding Support for South Texas Families

Breastfeeding is natural, but that doesn’t mean it’s always easy. At Holy Family Birth Center, families receive expert guidance, encouragement, and practical support from experienced professionals who specialize in infant feeding.

Holy Family is proud to have three International Board Certified Lactation Consultants (IBCLCs) on our team, a level of breastfeeding expertise that many hospitals do not offer.

Our lactation consultants support families with compassion, evidence-based care, and the time needed to help parents feel confident and supported.

Whether you are pregnant, newly postpartum, pumping, or simply have questions, we are here to help.

What is an IBCLC?

An IBCLC (International Board Certified Lactation Consultant) is the highest credential available for professionals specializing in breastfeeding and lactation care.

IBCLCs are trained to help families with:

• Latch and positioning

• Milk supply concerns

• Pumping guidance

• Pain during breastfeeding

• Returning to work while breastfeeding

• Infant feeding concerns

• Breastfeeding after medical complications

• Breastfeeding multiples

At Holy Family, lactation support is part of our commitment to whole-family care and healthy beginnings for babies.

Lactation Support After Birth

Families who deliver at Holy Family receive breastfeeding support as part of their birth care experience.

Our team provides:

• Hands-on breastfeeding support after delivery

• Help with latch, positioning, and feeding cues

• Guidance for the first days and weeks of breastfeeding

• Support for common breastfeeding challenges

• Encouragement and reassurance for new parents

Our goal is to help every family feel confident feeding their baby in the way that works best for them.

Community Breastfeeding Support

Holy Family participates in community outreach events to support breastfeeding families.

These events may include:

• Free breastfeeding support days

• One-on-one lactation consultations

• Infant feeding education

• Pumping guidance

• Support for pregnant and postpartum families

These community events help ensure that families across the Rio Grande Valley have access to trusted, evidence-based breastfeeding support.
